2005-2006 National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Team-Tulsa

Hosted by the Tulsa Community AIDS Partnership

“Thank you” to the 12th National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Team-Tulsa completing their year of service on August 1st for the following major contributions to Tulsa HIV prevention and care programs: 

  • Providing HIV counseling and testing for almost 200 high risk individuals
  • Presented educational programs on HIV/AIDS to almost 3,000 Tulsa area residents including high school and college students, members of faith communities, and employees of Tulsa businesses
  • Recruited 270 volunteers to help with HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities
  • Provided nearly 2,500 quality of life units of service for clients living with HIV/AIDS including food services, transportation, case management, and emotional support.  

A new six member National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Team-Tulsa will begin work in our community on September 5th after a week of training in Washington, D.C.

Tulsa is the only National AIDS Fund Partnership to have hosted an AmeriCorps team since the program in national service began in l993.  Tulsa's 12th National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Team began work on September 8th after a week of training in Washington, D.C.  New members and their agency assignments are:

Zachary Bundy, Tulsa CARES Food Pantry
Michelle Walker, RAIN
Rebecca Tyler, Incarcerated Women's Project and American Red Cross
Page Brockwell, Youth Services of Tulsa
